They also want to grow the unions. On October 4th Brad Sherman introduced "dramatic legislation that would eliminate so-called “right-to-work” laws, which was applauded by AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka. Sherman has a strong record of supporting working men and women and earned a 100% rating from the AFL-CIO." - From Shermans website.
What this means is that, if passed, and you work for any company that has a union, you would no longer have a choice whether or not to join that union - it would be forced, along with the dues associated with it. Another thiong the government would mandate you purchase. So much for freedom, huh?
Currently there are only 22 states that do not force citizens who belong to unions to join those unions. Why isn't it 50? When did the other 28 states lose that freedom? And if you are in a state that currently has that freedom, why would you want to lose it? Darker shaded states below are currently right to work states.
This is lame-duck legislation, one of about 20 pieces, the Dems are going to try to ram through Congress between election day and mid-January. It is encumbent upon each of us to remain aware of the bills being introduced, and to contact our Senators and Reps as often as needed - daily if necessary! Our voices have been heard, they will be heard louder still on November 2nd, and they must be heard even louder than that for the 10 weeks following those elections. And in reality, they must continued to be heard as we voice our opinions regarding in which direction we want our country to go for this point forward. To use the motto of 9/11 and attribute to the cause of Liberty and the Constitution, Never Forget!
