When Did The Media Die?

You might not have noticed lately, because you might still be watching MSNBC, NBC, CBS, ABC and CNN. But the Media is dead. None of these outlets reported on the Van Jones story until after he resigned. And there were only 3 mentions of the ACORN scandal on those 5 stations combined! Yes the media, as we knew it growing up, is dead. R.I.P! But we're lucky! We have an alternative. It's called Fox News. Have you watched it, or do you just dismiss it as right-wing propaganda? I ask you, were the Van Jones and ACORN stories real news? If you say yes, then why didn't the media, outside of Fox, cover it while it was breaking? If you say no, then why did they cover it after the fact? Let's face it, there are only two reasons. First, the media outlets outside of Fox are inept. I happen to hope it's that one, because the next one is unthinkable in America. But even though I hope it's the first reason, I fear it is the second. Here it is. The second reason is because the media is just a propaganda arm of the government - you know, like they have in Cuba and China and North Korea and places like that. God help us if that's the case! Congress, Listen Up!

You have been irresponsible - for decades. You continue to pass pork infested bills - so that your constituents will think you are working for them, when actually you are working only for yourself and the insidious corruption that surrounds you. You have enabled a system that allows for legal "conflict of interest" through the lobby industry and PACS. You have, in an obvious manner through the Stimulus Bill, paid bribes to constituent groups (big labor), for their support in terms of money, muscle and resources. That is despicable! In every session more and more new bills and issues are addressed, while existing problems are forgotten and neglected. To do the job of "preserving and protecting" the Constitution of the United States forget about ANY new legislation, and fix the problems we have. The unfunded liability for Social Security ($10.7 Trillion), Medicare/Medicaid ($39.7 Trillion) and prescription drugs ($8.6 Trillion) is currently over $59 Trillion dollars! That's money we owe to Americans, money that was supposed be be held in a protected fund, but money we don't have any longer - money we'll need to print if we're going to support the programs in the future - BECAUSE YOU SPENT IT ON PORK!!. That means HUGE inflation! Fix That Problem! The Current Tax Code is over 60,000 pages long. It's so complex that even members of Congress can not get their taxes figured properly. Change that tax system to a Flat Tax or Fair Tax system. Fix That Problem! And Fix the deficit! When Obama came into office we had the largest deficit ever - nearly a trillion dollars. It is now Trillions and Trillions of dollars. What are you doing??????? What could possibly be going through your collective mind? Secure our Borders - Immediately! Do you think all the issues that involve illegal immigration - health care, voting, entitlement programs, etc, etc can EVER be fixed before you do that? Regardless of how many congressional sessions are required, fix these problems before you address any other issues. That is what you are elected to do - and yet Congress after Congress after Congress has neglected that responsibility. Congress after Congress after Congress has hidden their collective heads in the sand, hoping some miracle will occur that will make these issues disappear. Not gonna happen in our lifetime. My view? If you aren't going to do the job that's required, step away from the table and STOP RUNNING FOR A SEAT!!! Wake Up America!

How do you feel today? Melancholy? Patriotic? Angry? United? Solemn? And why do you feel that way? Do you remember 9-11-2001? Are you old enough? Do you understand the magnitude of the events of that day? Do you understand the forces fighting against the preservation of our freedom? Why those forces are fighting liberty? And what we must do to thwart all efforts to undermine our freedoms - foreign and domestic? Do you know that every Congressman swears this oath "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God"? The President swears a similar oath. Do they believe it? Do they live it? Do you understand how important our security organizations are? Is it treasonous to take actions to minimize their effectiveness? That's what's being done. Why?

So on this day, put aside your partisanship. Stand independently for just a minute. Forget whether you are a Democrat, a Republican or an Independent, and affirm that you are an American - above all else. That you also take a solemn oath to preserve and protect and defend the Constitution of the United States - against ALL threats, foreign and domestic. Do it for your country, but most importantly, do it for yourself. And then watch this...

2012 - The End Of The World?

Both ancient Mayan and Chinese calendars predicted the end of a "time period" - calculated to be December 21 or 23, 2012. This has been interpreted by some as meaning the end of the world, as catastrophic events were foretold. The Bible talks about the "end times" as well. There is mention of "fire from the sky". Many Biblical scholars interpret that to be a literal reigning down of fire - perhaps asteroids, perhaps more than that. The bible talks about increased natural disasters as well. But let's put that into current day context for a minute. What if the interpretation was wrong - after all it came decades ago and was created from a world perspective far different from today's. Can these two lines of thought actually coincide? What if the "catastrophic events" aren't about a sun flare that will create a magnetic reversal on the earth - affectively changing the north and south magnetic poles - which many believe is imminent. What if the "end period" isn't the end of the world, but the end of the world as we know it? And what if the "catastrophic event" and the "fire from the sky" isn't a solar flare, but a nuclear war? That seems pretty plausible to me given the events occurring around the world. Both Iran and North Korea are just a very short time from acquiring nuclear technology and/or the delivery systems required to use nuclear weapons offensively. Both countries espouse hate. The Obama administration, for some obscure reason, has recently decided to dismantle the missile shield in Poland and Czechoslovakia, which effectively leaves Israel unprotected. As for natural disasters? We've already seen an increase in natural disasters - there have been 8-10 earthquakes in the past 2 months around the globe. The Swine Flu pandemic is about to hit us; there is global recession. In America alone wild fires are out of control and recently people have been swept into the sea by rogue waves. The Party Of "No"

The Republicans have been labeled (there's that word again) by the Democrats as the "Party of No". They seem to take umbrage with that label; why, I'm not sure. To illustrate my point here's an example. Consider that you are a parent. You are responsible for the care, well-being, education and morals of your 9-year-old child. Your spouse discusses the two of you smoking pot, even though your child is home. You say no. Your spouse offers your child a small amount of alcohol before Sunday dinner. You say no. Your spouse wants to give your child more freedom in the form of staying out late with his friends, some you don't even know. You say no. Your spouse offers your child ice cream before dinner. You say no. Your spouse buys an Eminem album for your child because your spouse likes Eminem. You say no. Your spouse wants to watch the latest HBO late night comedy special with your child. You say no. And on and on it goes. Does this mean that you are the "parent of no"? Or, does it just mean that you love your child enough, and care enough about your child's well being, to tell your child no? So, what's scaring the Republicans so much? Maybe they aren't really scared at all. Maybe its just an excuse they can throw at us to justify their voting records. Makes you think, doesn't it? What other reason would there be for them to abandon conservative principles given the ideological war we're embroiled in? Republicans are not necessarily our friends, anymore than Democrats are. There are progressives in both parties. All progressives need to be voted out. It's that simple. Wake Up America!

Davidson and Tom Hayden take credit for having launched in 1969 the "Venceremos Brigades," which covertly transported hundreds of young Americans to Cuba to help harvest sugar cane and interact with Havana's communist revolutionary leadership. (The Brigades were organized by Fidel Castro's Cuban intelligence agency, which trained "brigadistas" in guerrilla warfare techniques, including the use of arms and explosives.) Stifling Freedom Of Speech Through Fear - That's All It Takes?

Yale criticized for nixing Muslim cartoons in book By JOHN CHRISTOFFERSEN, Associated Press Writer – Tue Sep 8, 6:40 am ET NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Yale University has removed cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad from an upcoming book about how they caused outrage across the Muslim world, drawing criticism from prominent alumni and a national group of university professors. Yale cited fears of violence. Yale University Press, which the university owns, removed the 12 caricatures from the book "The Cartoons That Shook the World" by Brandeis University professor Jytte Klausen. The book is scheduled to be released next week. A Danish newspaper originally published the cartoons — including one depicting Muhammad wearing a bomb-shaped turban — in 2005. Other Western publications reprinted them. The following year, the cartoons triggered massive protests from Morocco to Indonesia. Rioters torched Danish and other Western diplomatic missions. Some Muslim countries boycotted Danish products. Islamic law generally opposes any depiction of the prophet, even favorable, for fear it could lead to idolatry. "I think it's horrifying that the campus of Nathan Hale has become the first place where America surrenders to this kind of fear because of what extremists might possibly do," said Michael Steinberg, an attorney and Yale graduate. Steinberg was among 25 alumni who signed a protest letter sent Friday to Yale Alumni Magazine that urged the university to restore the drawings to the book. Other signers included John Bolton, a former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations under President George W. Bush, former Bush administration speechwriter David Frum and Seth Corey, a liberal doctor. "I think it's intellectual cowardice," Bolton said Thursday. "I think it's very self defeating on Yale's part. To me it's just inexplicable." Cary Nelson, president of the American Association of University Professors, wrote in a recent letter that Yale's decision effectively means: "We do not negotiate with terrorists. We just accede to their anticipated demands." In a statement explaining the decision, Yale University Press said it decided to exclude a Danish newspaper page of the cartoons and other depictions of Muhammad after asking the university for help on the issue. It said the university consulted counterterrorism officials, diplomats and the top Muslim official at the United Nations. "The decision rested solely on the experts' assessment that there existed a substantial likelihood of violence that might take the lives of innocent victims," the statement said. Republication of the cartoons has repeatedly resulted in violence around the world, leading to more than 200 deaths and hundreds of injuries, the statement said. It also noted that major newspapers in the United states and Britain have declined to print the cartoons. "Yale and Yale University Press are deeply committed to freedom of speech and expression, so the issues raised here were difficult," the statement said. "The press would never have reached the decision it did on the grounds that some might be offended by portrayals of the Prophet Muhammad." John Donatich, director of Yale University Press, said the critics are "grandstanding." He said it was not a case of censorship because the university did not suppress original content that was not available in other places. "I would never have agreed to censor original content," Donatich said. Klausen was surprised by the decision when she learned of it last week. She said scholarly reviewers and Yale's publication committee comprised of faculty recommended the cartoons be included. "I'm extremely upset about that," Klausen said. The experts Yale consulted did not read the manuscript, Klausen said. She said she consulted Muslim leaders and did not believe including the cartoons in a scholarly debate would spark violence. Klausen said she reluctantly agreed to have the book published without the images because she did not believe any other university press would publish them, and she hopes Yale will include them in later editions. She argues in the book that there is a misperception that Muslims spontaneously arose in anger over the cartoons when they really were symbols manipulated by those already involved in violence. Donatich said there wasn't time for the experts to read the book, but they were told of the context. He said reviewers and the publications committee did not object, but were not asked about the security risk. Many Muslim nations want to restrict speech to prevent insults to Islam they claim have proliferated since the terrorist attacks in the United States on Sept. 11, 2001. Fareed Zakaria, editor of Newsweek International, a world affairs columnist and CNN host who serves on Yale's governing board, said he told Yale that he believed publishing the images would have provoked violence. "As a journalist and public commentator, I believe deeply in the First Amendment and academic freedom," Zakaria said.
