"When the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." - Benjamin Franklin;
"And when politicians find that honor and character matter less than buying votes and a constituency, that too will herald the end of the Constitution. When that happens we must work tirelessly to change their minds, or their occupation!" - Hoping The Blind Will See

Repeal, Repeal, Repeal!

By all indications we are just hours away from a disastrous vote in favor of Obamacare. But even if it does pass, all is not lost. There is still time for us to change the make-up of Congress and get this law repealed! But we must do it quickly.

You may recall that Prohibition was voted into law as our Eighteenth Amendment back in 1919. Ironically it was a union pushing for that legislation too! It took Americans 14 years to change that law, but change it they did. The law was repealed in 1933!
Unfortunately, we need to get this law repealed in much less time than that because it takes affect in 2013. It is imperative to vote out ANYONE who has put his or her name in the affirmative column of this legislation. We The People need to reassert OUR control over our government. Our only tool is the vote. But it is an all-purpose tool, and it is affective. Unfortunately, like any tool, you need to use it! We have an opportunity to show Washington that they answer to us! By doing so, we will keep future Congresses in line for fear of answering to the people's vote! Something they haven't feared in a long, long time!

Socialism, and then Communism, under the guise of Progressivism and Liberalism must be thwarted, and we are in the unenviable role of embracing that challenge. But we have a responsibility to protect liberty for our children and for all future generations. We also have a responsibility to respect and honor the memory of all those heroes of the past - both fallen and not - who fought valiantly for Freedom and Liberty! Were all those lives lost in vain? Were all those veterans who survived but were maimed and/or mentally scarred, maimed and scarred in vain? Did your father, or uncle or brother, or grandfather fight meaninglessly?

I think not. I hope you all agree.

So, I come back to this theme. What are you willing to do to protect Freedom and Liberty in America? How far are you willing to go? What line won't you cross? Will you defend the Constitution with your life, your fortune, and your sacred honor as our founders swore they would do? Do you care enough about Freedom and Liberty to do that? Do you care enough about the future of your bloodline to do that? You need to ask yourself these questions. You need to evaluate what you think this legislation, and other legislation that will be rammed through Congress under this Administration, and the Obama Administration itself means to the future of America. You need to do that now. We don't have the luxury of waiting three or four or five years to "see" where it leads. Because by the time we can see that outcome, it will be too late to react.

This Government, which is supposed to be "of the people, by the people, for the people", has lost its way. They are no longer for the "people"; they are for a select few. They have turned their back on the majority "of the people". I think intentionally, though some might argue that point. It's time for them to face the music. It's time for us to turn them back around and get in their faces. It is time for them to recognize that America is not only about the poor, the immigrants (legal and otherwise), the environmentalists, the pro-choicers, or any other minority! It is about ALL the people! And ALL the people must do what is necessary to make that tenet known throughout Washington, and throughout governments in all fifty states! The silent majority is tired of being viewed as second-class citizens! We are tired of bending over to appease every perversion of society that garners enough of a following that some idiot politician grabs it for their base. We are the majority! We WILL be heard! Or God help us, there will be a reckoning in America!

God Bless America, and God Bless Us ALL!

The Politics Of Spending For Power

We Are All Keynesians Now

By Miryam Lindberg.

John Maynard Keynes is the British economist that developed Keynesianism, a school of economic theory.

In 1998, the world-famous progressive economist and Nobel Laureate of Economics Paul Krugman, asked Why Aren’t We All Keynesians Yet? Although his every paragraph was instantly rebutted , almost 12 years after he wrote his article, we seem to have ultimately reached that shore – even if we didn’t actually want to.

Politicians can’t control their immense appetite for spending; I think it’s humanly impossible for them not to spend. Their power depends on that spending. To hold on to their power, politicians need that their voters depend on them. As political philosopher Tibor R. Machan once pointed out; “Throughout most of history, governments – usually monarchies headed by kings, emperors, pharaohs and other major or minor tyrants – actually owned everything under their rule, including, believe it or not, the people.”

With the advent of liberal democracy, the process is much more refined. Politicians “buy” our votes and goodwill offering us everything under the sun with catchy, appealing names; you name it, they have it – does pork barrel ring a bell here? Politicians are known for their amazing talents in the art of promising the moon – and the people for naïvely believing them and forgetting these wise words attributed to Thomas Jefferson: “A government big enough to give you everything you want is big enough to take away everything you have.” Apparently, we the people have yet to understand that, as there’s no Santa Claus, there are no free lunches, either. Who do you think pays the final price tag? Just like with Santa, it’s you – invariably and unequivocally you.

In very simple terms, Keynesianism, the school of economic theory developed by British economist John Maynard Keynes, advocates government intervention to correct the inefficiencies of markets with monetary and fiscal policies to “stimulate the economy” and to “create jobs.” Ever heard the phrases “economic stimulus,” “stimulus package,” “help the economy,” job creation package”? It’s Keynesianism in a nutshell and it implies a particular approach to public policy.

The problem is that history proved Keynes wrong and unfortunately man is the only animal that trips over the same stone twice. Thus, after FDR’s first New Deal (a surfeit of Keynesianism,) America is being subjected to its second New Deal with President Obama in spite that the nation is all but broke. Western governments in general are also following the same destructive path.

Keynes gave social democracy its intellectual wherewithal – and to politicians the perfect excuse to spend. Europe, the standard bearer of social democracy and the welfare state model, is drowning in a terrifying debt crisis because its politicians have been spending irrepressibly and levying draconian taxes to deliver all those cushy, “free” entitlements that Europeans have come to see as inherent rights. Try to cut any of those perks and expect to see riots, protests, and social unrest spread like wildfire. Look at Greece now that the day to pay for the bill has come to knock on its doors. “The fix of this [debt] problem needs to be a political solution, and you can’t easily persuade people or politicians to accept this kind of medicine,” said Steven Bell, chief economist of GLC, the London-based hedge fund to The Washington Post.

Mr. Bell is right. Yet it’s far too hard after decades of runaway spending and alleged free lunches. “Keynesianism has conquered the hearts and minds of politicians and ordinary people alike because it provides a theoretical justification for irresponsible behavior,” explains University of Chicago Booth School of Business Prof. Luigi Zingales in The Economist . “Keynesian economists tell politicians, who are addicted to spending our money, that government expenditures are good. And they tell consumers, who are affected by severe spending problems, that consuming is good, while saving is bad.” By now, we know the result of that misguided advice.

Money is a commodity like any other product, but while most products are manufactured and traded in free markets, money isn’t. It’s a monopoly, worst yet, a government monopoly that politicians have rigged to their advantage. As a result, Western governments have been spending taxpayers’ money as drunken sailors, regardless of party affiliation, thus promoting inflation. As French economist Guy Sorman writes; “Inflation [is] always caused by governments’ spending more money than they have, and then printing extra money or borrowing to finance the expenditure; [this behavior] destroys entrepreneurship, slows growth, and generates social inequality.”

Politicians pay lip service to the free-market system to then attach all kinds of regulations, taxes and protectionist measures that stifle the freedom markets need to be more efficient. Trillions of taxpayers’ dollars are in their hands, but it’s never ever enough for their grandiose plans, so they create money “out of thin air” to get even more funds. They tamper with Adam Smith’s invisible hand, vainly thinking they have the power to control and steer the economy according to their social engineering plans. Probably due to their economic illiteracy – and buckets of arrogance – they ignore F.A. Hayek’s dictum which says that, just as language, market outcomes are “the result of human action, but not of human design.” Politicians’ fatal conceit is to presume they can micromanage the markets and our lives.

A look at the membership of the 111th Congress shows that out of 435 representatives and 100 senators, not one of them is an economist. None… but you have plenty of lawyers (168 in the House and 57 in the Senate.) That should give you an idea of their expertise on economic issues. Consequently, their policies foster economic crises, financial panics, overbearing regulation, and undesirable bailouts. Then, when the chickens come home to roost, politicians have the chutzpah to put the blame on everybody else and to present themselves as the saviors of the day. How? Raising taxes, printing more fiat money, and auctioning off trillions of dollars in fresh, new debt… to spend some more. It’s time to break that evil circle.

The current economic mess has shaken the American people’s trust in the political class; polls currently indicate that 78 percent say government spending is out of control; 81 percent of voters say they are fed up with the growing federal deficit; 59 percent of voters say they do not trust the federal government; and citizens’ satisfaction with the direction of the country is at 19 percent. The “Throw the Bums Out” sentiment is brewing slowly but surely and one evident manifestation of this dissatisfaction has been the virulent growth of the Tea Party Movement. If those terrible poll numbers persist over a sustained period of time, they may bring forth decisive changes in the “social contract” between the Government and the American people.

Thrifty governments foster prosperous societies. But Congress, the Obama Administration, and their Keynesian policies are just adding to the gargantuan American deficit. The latest distressing economic news says that the United States is “‘substantially’ closer to losing its AAA credit ratings.” Nonetheless, in a new show of hubris, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner has bluntly assured the people; “That will never happen to this country.” Really? What makes America immune to that fate? Or are the politicians actually in denial?

This state of denial is dominating a political class ready to continue spending and printing money unabashedly. The most recent example is health care reform and its unrealistic promises: Add 40 million new users to a system and say that not only will it not add to the deficit but it will actually reduce the deficit. If that feat were possible, it should be renamed Obamagic instead. Projecting costs has never been the Government’s strong suit – think budgets, wars, Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, et al…. With such a dismal track record, why should anyone believe that this time with health care it will all be different?

Back to reality: The best way to reduce the deficit is not to spend. The best way to reduce inflation is not to print fiat money to continue spending. It’s that simple; however, since their clinging to power depends on spending and printing money, politicians will keep on doing it – until the citizens decisively say enough is enough. Americans have a great chance in November to turn that tide. We don’t want to be Keynesians after all. There are some good, knowledgeable people running for office. Please, do choose wisely and hold them accountable.

ObamaCare is Tyranny, Not Legislation

ObamaCare is Tyranny, Not Legislation You need to read this article posted on American Thinker. This is indeed the crux of what we are up against, and it is articulated beautifully in this article! Let's Go America! Liberty Is Under Attack!!!!!

I Deem...

Seeing that the Democrats have opened this door, I deem that all entitlement programs are irresponsible and are restrictive towards those they claim to help, and are thus void. Let the family structure, the church, the community and then the American people, not the American government, take care of their own.

I deem that God is the focus of our culture, of our Constitution and of our Freedom. As such, I further deem that He will NOT be barred from our schools, our government buildings, our workplaces, our speech, our literature or our lives! In God We Trust!

I deem that abortion, regardless of any "convenient truth" you might believe, is murder - pure and simple. Here's the definition: Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus or embryo, resulting in (or caused by) its death. Sounds like murder to me.

I deem that the Constitution is not a living document, but rather a sturdy foundation that is immovable, upon which our government was built. The minute it became a living, movable document, the cracks began to erode it's stability. I deem we return to our foundation.

I deem that we are "one nation under God", that people from other cultures who wish to migrate here must do so legally, and must also embrace our culture and our language. Otherwise, the fragmentation of our society is too great.

I deem, for the same purpose as that listed above, that the official language of America is english, and that there will be no more "press 1" statements in our automated menus.

I deem that the Constitution and the Bill of Rights are the highest authorities regarding our rights, and that the Constituion is NOT a document of negative liberties. It is our lifeblood!

I deem that the Government can not spend more money that it takes in - ever! That it must always have a balanced budget, that EVERY item is included in the budget, that there is one set of "books", and that the government never run a deficit.

There are other things that we could "deem" as well. But let's start with these...

God Help Us All America! We're Going To Need It.
Let's Go, There's Lots Of Work To Do!

Is This The America You Grew Up With? The America You Want?

Is This The America You Grew Up With? The America You Want? Is this the type og government that you want? If not, get involved! Contact your Congressmen and the Blue Dog Coalition. Tell them this is NOT how we do business in America. Read on...

As the Dean of a law school and a long-term student of the Constitution of the United States, I am APPALLED by the processes being used to pass ObamaCare. Make no mistake: What Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and the architects of ObamaCare are trying to get away with is blatantly unconstitutional!

A few days ago, Democrats began floating Rep. Louis Slaughter's idea to use a "self-extracting rule" which would allow the House to pass ObamaCare without actually casting a vote on the Senate version of the healthcare "reform" bill. Then yesterday, Speaker Pelosi all but made it the official Democrat strategy by saying this about the "Slaughter House Rule': "I like it... because people don't have to voteon the Senate bill."

Put simply, the House will create a rule to "deem" the Senate bill as passed, while merely voting on the amendments. Under this scheme, Members of the House will never actually vote on the Senate version, yet ObamaCare could pass nonetheless.

I have two words to say about the so-called Slaughter House Rule: "I OBJECT!"

Can the architects of ObamaCare be any more deceptive and abusive of the authority entrusted to them? Their arrogance is an insult to the American people and to our revered institutions.

We must continue resisting this seemingly endless deception.

The Obama/ Pelosi/ Reid political machine is determined to get ObamaCare passed this week - and they are proving they will stop at nothing to do it. In fact, everything the Obama/Pelosi/Reid axis of power is doing right now is carefully designed to avoid ANY public input and even to minimize scrutiny inside Congress itself.

For his part, the President has been holding one-on-one meetings with swing-vote Democrat House Members, particularly those who voted "no" the first time around. We can only imagine the arm-twisting, manipulation, and pressure the President is applying to these representatives behind closed doors. Those who have experienced such tactics assure us that only the strongest of characters can stay committed to their own ideals and principles under such treatment. We should all keep these men and women - perhaps especially those who are standing on pro-life convictions - in our prayers this week.

This situation calls for action!

We MUST counter the overt deception and pressure being employed and speak out for the clear majority of
Americans who strongly oppose ObamaCare. Even if you have faxed and called Congress already this
month, I need you to take additional action now. Your legislators need to continue hearing YOUR voice on
this crucial issue. Tell them, "NO TO OBAMACARE" and "NO TO THE SLAUGHTER HOUSE RULE"!

Utilizing the highly effective Liberty Counsel FAX BARRAGE, we are delivering a powerful message to your Representatives, and to wavering Members and pro-life Members of the Congress - the same key "swing votes" who are being pressed hard by the Left's political machine.

In the last several days alone, friends like you have enabled us to deliver over 200,000 highly targeted faxes into a Congress that desperately needs to hear the voices of freedom-loving Americans. Everything you need to send your message is just a click away. Time is critical! Go here to schedule your faxes now:

http://www.libertyaction.org/r.asp?U=26219&CID=310&RID=23706734

If you prefer, we always encourage you to send your own faxes. We have provided all the information you need to reach your Members of Congress:
http://www.libertyaction.org/r.asp?U=26220&CID=310&RID=23706734

ALSO...Please CALL your elected officials and tell them what you think about ObamaCare, the subversion of the will of the American people, the abuse of our democratic processes, and the pro-abortion measures contained in this bill. This will likely require patience, so please don't give up if you get a busy signal or are placed on hold for an available line.

ObamaCare's "Abortion Mandate" must be stopped!

The National Right to Life Committee (NRLC) and other pro-life groups have condemned the Senate's version of health care reform because of its numerous pro-abortion loopholes. According to the NRLC, one key issue is a provision that allows $7 billion in funding for Community Health Centers - something President Obama expanded in his request for changes to the bill. These and other funds provided for in the bill would wind up paying for abortions. We, as pro-life Americans, MUST stand strong against the anti-life provisions in the Obama/Reid/Pelosi versions of healthcare reform. I am calling for thousands of pro-life citizens to make a bold statement and to REJECT this bill totally and completely!

Please go here now to send your faxes and make YOUR VOICE heard in this crucial debate:

http://www.libertyaction.org/r.asp?U=26221&CID=310&RID=23706734

... it is now what many are calling the "make-or-break week" for ObamaCare. I sincerely thank you for taking action with me while there is still time.

God bless you,

Mathew Staver, Founder and Chairman Liberty Counsel

P.S. As I have repeatedly pointed out, the "personal mandate" in the Senate version of ObamaCare (and therefore the "President's Plan") is unconstitutional. Period. The "Slaughter House Rule" is unconstitutional, as well. But the Constitution alone will not stop these socialist ideologues - only an overwhelming response from outraged citizens can defeat their deceptive strategy. Take action with me in telling Congress "NO!" to the anti-life, anti-family, anti-freedom healthcare "reform" bill! Time is absolutely of the essence at this point. Please, go here:

It's About Focus And Commitment - In Everything.

One cannot help but watch this ballerina in awe and amazement. We are all capable of so much - physically and mentally - when we apply ourselves. And, although this Prima Ballerina is the extreme example, this video is proof of that truth if we work smart, remain committed and stay focused.

How focused and committed are you to the preservation ofl liberty? What are you prepared to put your body and your mind through? Are you strong enough? Are you mentally tough enough? Are you committed to the cause of saving freedom? Do you care enough about America? Are you convinced enough to get engaged and to act? These are all questions you need to ask yourself. Do you believe liberty is at stake, or do you think conservative America is over-reacting? If it's the former, I hope you chose engagement over passivity. Your voice is needed! Your presence at events is needed! The opposition needs to see how many we number, and that we really do care. Make a stand, get involved!

The CLASS Act and Obamacare

This from my Representative, Congressman Bill Posey. He is helping to defend this nation one bill at a time and NEVER fails to respond to a letter or email I send him. He has never let me down in his unwavering position to protect liberty and the Constitution. Here's what he says about Healthcare, and in particular the CLASS Act. You'll see that this has the makings of becoming the next Social Security "Lock Box" - with no funds to pay out when the time comes. It's just another hidden tax dressed up pretty and wrapped in a bow so we think we're getting something from the government. Don't be fooled. Get on the horn, or email your Senators and Reps once again about Healthcare. Don't get lazy or sloppy now. Stay focused and engaged. Now more than ever we need EVERY voice contacting their congressmen!

From Bill Posey:
While the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates that the Senate bill would generate $118 billion in savings over the next decade, that analysis has a number of fundamental flaws. First, let's remember that CBO can only estimate the costs associated with the exact language that is put before them. So, if CBO has a bill before them that contains budget gimmicks CBO has to include that in their estimate rather than correct for them.

One of the most glaring examples of this gimmickry is the way that the CBO treats the costs of the CLASS Act. The CLASS Act is a new program created in the Senate health care bill that would provide a very limited long-term care benefit. Under the bill the federal government will start collecting premiums for long-term care benefits in 2012, but would not begin paying out benefits until 2017 at the earliest. The result of this is that CBO is required to estimate nine years of premium payments and only a few years of expenses on the CLASS Act benefits. CBO estimates that this would have a net increase in payments to the Treasury of $72 billion. However, the Department of Health and Human Services estimates it would generate only half as much from premium payments. You can guess which cost estimate the Senate picked for their budgeting purposes - the higher $72 billion in net premiums paid - which they then call a "health care savings."

Importantly, CLASS Act premium payments are not put into a trust fund where they are protected in order to pay future benefits. Instead they are spent on other health care programs beginning in 2011. So, when the bill comes due to pay for the CLASS Act benefits for which seniors would have paid premiums, there will be no money left in the account to pay the bills. This will be another unaffordable and unfunded burden placed on future generations of Americans.

In fact, Senator Kent Conrad (D-ND) called the CLASS Act "a Ponzi scheme of the first order, the kind of thing that Bernie Madoff would have been proud of." In the private sector those convicted of running ponzi schemes end up going to jail.

I would be remiss if I did not point out that the authors of the Senate bill recognize that this is a budget problem so they have added "Sense of the Senate" language in Section 1563 of the Senate bill stating that CLASS Act revenues should be dedicated to those programs "and not spent in this Act for other purposes." But, this is worthless language and does not carry the force of law. It's a nice statement, but the provisions of the bill direct that CLASS Act premium payments be used to pay for other health care programs created in the Senate bill.

This is just one of the many glaring examples of how this bill and the CBO estimate fails to reflect the true costs of this bill and is yet another reason why I have been opposed to this legislation from the beginning and will continue to stand in opposition to it.

Lot's Of Work Still Ahead America! Don't Let Liberty Down!
