"When the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." - Benjamin Franklin;
"And when politicians find that honor and character matter less than buying votes and a constituency, that too will herald the end of the Constitution. When that happens we must work tirelessly to change their minds, or their occupation!" - Hoping The Blind Will See

NFL-izing America

While everyone is up in arms over the NFL/Rush Limbaugh flap, I have a different take on things. Maybe it's time we should re-evaluate our priorities as a nation, take a step back in time, and NFL-ize America. Let me explain.

Americans have watch silently for the past 25 years as Affirmative Action and Diversity have been pushed down our collective throats, enforced by the EEOC. We were told that we needed such social programs to help those less fortunate succeed in the workplace and educational facilities specifically, and in life generally. But all it really did was dumb down our kids and allow those less qualified to take jobs from those fully qualified. In the process, America has lost influence, strength, and their edge on the rest of the world. Heck, our currency solvency is rated #50 in the world! How did that happen? How many Presidents and Congresses are responsible for that?

But in the NFL you have none of that. During the draft the best player for the team's needs is always picked - regardless of race, class, looks, etc. And because of that the level of skill and competition, and the resulting performance of the players and teams have continued to increase over the years. Why can't we get back to that concept in the rest of America!! Let's pick the best person for the job, regardless of race, class, creed, etc - not someone less qualified because of some social agenda pushed on us by progressive lackeys looking to stealthily push their agenda on us all.

Obama Poised to Cede US Sovereignty - This Is As Serious As It Gets!

Cbullitt at Soylent Green has been acting as Paul Revere and notifying the Internet about this sobering story. Opus #6 has reposted it and I'm doing the same.

The Minnesota Free Market Institute hosted an event at Bethel University in St. Paul on Wednesday evening. Keynote speaker Lord Christopher Monckton, former science adviser to British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, gave a scathing and lengthy presentation, complete with detailed charts, graphs, facts, and figures which culminated in the utter decimation of both the pop culture concept of global warming and the credible threat of any significant anthropomorphic climate change.

A detailed summary of Monckton’s presentation will be available here once compiled. However, a segment of his remarks justify immediate publication. If credible, the concern Monckton speaks to may well prove the single most important issue facing the American nation, bigger than health care, bigger than cap and trade, and worth every citizen’s focused attention.

Here were Monckton’s closing remarks, as dictated from my audio recording:

At [the 2009 United Nations Climate Change Conference in] Copenhagen, this December, weeks away, a treaty will be signed. Your president will sign it. Most of the third world countries will sign it, because they think they’re going to get money out of it. Most of the left-wing regime from the European Union will rubber stamp it. Virtually nobody won’t sign it.

I read that treaty. And what it says is this, that a world government is going to be created. The word “government” actually appears as the first of three purposes of the new entity. The second purpose is the transfer of wealth from the countries of the West to third world countries, in satisfication of what is called, coyly, “climate debt” – because we’ve been burning CO2 and they haven’t. We’ve been screwing up the climate and they haven’t. And the third purpose of this new entity, this government, is enforcement.

How many of you think that the word “election” or “democracy” or “vote” or “ballot” occurs anywhere in the 200 pages of that treaty? Quite right, it doesn’t appear once. So, at last, the communists who piled out of the Berlin Wall and into the environmental movement, who took over Greenpeace so that my friends who funded it left within a year, because [the communists] captured it – Now the apotheosis as at hand. They are about to impose a communist world government on the world. You have a president who has very strong sympathies with that point of view. He’s going to sign it. He’ll sign anything. He’s a Nobel Peace Prize [winner]; of course he’ll sign it.

[laughter]

And the trouble is this; if that treaty is signed, if your Constitution says that it takes precedence over your Constitution (sic), and you can’t resign from that treaty unless you get agreement from all the other state parties – And because you’ll be the biggest paying country, they’re not going to let you out of it.

So, thank you, America. You were the beacon of freedom to the world. It is a privilege merely to stand on this soil of freedom while it is still free. But, in the next few weeks, unless you stop it, your president will sign your freedom, your democracy, and your humanity away forever. And neither you nor any subsequent government you may elect will have any power whatsoever to take it back. That is how serious it is. I’ve read the treaty. I’ve seen this stuff about [world] government and climate debt and enforcement. They are going to do this to you whether you like it or not.

But I think it is here, here in your great nation, which I so love and I so admire – it is here that perhaps, at this eleventh hour, at the fifty-ninth minute and fifty-ninth second, you will rise up and you will stop your president from signing that dreadful treaty, that purposeless treaty. For there is no problem with climate and, even if there were, an economic treaty does nothing to [help] it.

So I end by saying to you the words that Winston Churchill addressed to your president in the darkest hour before the dawn of freedom in the Second World War. He quoted from your great poet Longfellow:

Sail on, O Ship of State!
Sail on, O Union, strong and great!
Humanity with all its fears,
With all the hopes of future years,
Is hanging breathless on thy fate!

Lord Monckton received a standing ovation and took a series of questions from members of the audience. Among those questions were these relevent to the forthcoming Copenhagen treaty:

Question: The current administration and the Democratic majority in Congress has shown little regard for the will of the people. They’re trying to pass a serious government agenda, and serious taxation and burdens on future generations. And there seems to be little to stop them. How do you propose we stop Obama from doing this, because I see no way to stop him from signing anything in Copenhagen. I believe that’s his agenda and he’ll do it.

I don’t minimize the difficulty. But on this subject – I don’t really do politics, because it’s not right. In the end, your politics is for you. The correct procedure is for you to get onto your representatives, both in the US Senate where the bill has yet to go through (you can try and stop that) and in [the House], and get them to demand their right of audience (which they all have) with the president and tell him about this treaty. There are many very powerful people in this room, wealthy people, influential people. Get onto the media, tell them about this treaty. If they go to www.wattsupwiththat.com, they will find (if they look carefully enough) a copy of that treaty, because I arranged for it to be posted there not so long ago. Let them read it, and let the press tell the people that their democracy is about to be taken away for no good purpose, at least [with] no scientific basis [in reference to climate change]. Tell the press to say this. Tell the press to say that, even if there is a problem [with climate change], you don’t want your democracy taken away. It really is as simple as that.

Question: Is it really irrevocable if that treaty is signed? Suppose it’s signed by someone who does not have the authority, as I – I have some, a high degree of skepticism that we do have a valid president there because I -

I know at least one judge who shares your opinion, sir, yes.

I don’t believe it until I see it. … Would [Obama's potential illegitimacy as president] give us a reasonable cause to nullify whatever treaty that he does sign as president?

I would be very careful not to rely on things like that. Although there is a certain amount of doubt whether or not he was born in Hawaii, my fear is it would be very difficult to prove he wasn’t born in Hawaii and therefore we might not be able to get anywhere with that. Besides, once he’s signed that treaty, whether or not he signed it validly, once he’s signed it and ratified it – your Senate ratifies it – you’re bound by it. But I will say one thing; they know, in the White House, that they won’t be able to get the 67 votes in the Senate, the two-thirds majority that your Constitution has stipulated must be achieved in order to ratify a treaty of this kind. However, what they’ve worked out is this – and they actually let it slip during the election campaign, which is how I know about it. They plan to enact that Copenhagen treaty into legislation by a simple majority of both houses. That they can do. But the virtue of that – and here you have a point – is that is, thank God, reversible. So I want you to pray tonight, and pray hard for your Senate that they utterly refuse to ratify the [new] Treaty of Copenhagen, because if they refuse to ratify it and [Obama] has to push it through as domestic legislation, you can repeal it.

Regardless of whether global warming is taking place or caused to any degree by human activity, we do not want a global government empowered to tax Americans without elected representation or anything analogous to constitutional protections. The Founding Fathers would roll over in their graves if they knew their progeny allowed a foreign power such authority, effectively undoing their every effort in an act of Anti-American Revolution. If that is our imminent course, we need to put all else on hold and focus on stopping it. If American sovereignty is ceded, all other debate is irrelevant.

Edited to add @ 8:31 am:

Skimming through the treaty, I came across verification of Monckton’s assessment of the new entity’s purpose:

38. The scheme for the new institutional arrangement under the Convention will be based on three basic pillars: government; facilitative mechanism; and financial mechanism, and the basic organization of which will include the following:

World Government (heading added)
(a) The government will be ruled by the COP with the support of a new subsidiary body on adaptation, and of an Executive Board responsible for the management of the new funds and the related facilitative processes and bodies. The current Convention secretariat will operate as such, as appropriate.

To Redistribute Wealth (heading added)
b) The Convention’s financial mechanism will include a multilateral climate change fund including five windows: (a) an Adaptation window, (b) a Compensation window, to address loss and damage from climate change impacts [read: the "climate debt" Monckton refers to], including insurance, rehabilitation and compensatory components, © a Technology window; (d) a Mitigation window; and (e) a REDD window, to support a multi-phases process for positive forest incentives relating to REDD actions.

With Enforcement Authority (heading added)© The Convention’s facilitative mechanism will include: (a) work programmes for adaptation and mitigation; (b) a long-term REDD process; © a short-term technology action plan; (d) an expert group on adaptation established by the subsidiary body on adaptation, and expert groups on mitigation, technologies and on monitoring, reporting and verification; and (e) an international registry for the monitoring, reporting and verification of compliance of emission reduction commitments, and the transfer of technical and financial resources from developed countries to developing countries. The secretariat will provide technical and administrative support, including a new center for information exchange [read; enforcement].

The Alliance Defense Fund

This is a group defending our liberty against the ACLU which has systematically and continuously attacked our Judeo-Christian system of values for 50 years. The ACLU prevents Christians from praying in schools - but Muslims can put down their little rugs and pray. Hmmm. They help to propagate homosexual teaching in grade school, but attack legal marriage between a man and a woman as the sole description of marriage. They condone abortion. They oppose "one Nation under God" in the pledge of allegiance. There is an assault on "In God We Trust" on our money. Check out the ADF and see if they're a group you can support.

2010 - "A Teachable Moment"

Olympia Snowe is the lone Republican who voted for the Baucus Bill in the Finance Committee. The Bill passed 14-9, with all Democrats voting for it. Snowe is obviously a "wolf in sheep's clothing." So what we must try to remember is that political labels like Democrat, Republican and Independent mean little in today's world. We need to focus on who is conservative, who is liberal and who is progressive. If we continue to look to the "parties" as our salvation, we are doomed to fail in our quest to strengthen the Republic in terms of reinforcing the Constitution as it was written and the Bill of Rights.

For me, any national politician who has not voted conservative consistently, and those who have such disdain for the American public that they continue to vote against our wishes, must be the first casualties of this ideological war come 2010! And the battle must be intensified between 2010 and 2012 to make any real difference. But the true test will be how long conservative America, or at least center right America, can stay focused and engaged politically. Only through long-term engagement can the right take back the Supreme Court and Congress and start making significant change in the direction of the country.

Like the war on terrorism, the ideological war for America will not be a quick war. It will not be won in the next 2 or 4 years, or even 10. It may not be over in our lifetimes. But it is precisely because the left refuses to accept the terms "victory" and "win the war" or "fight to win" that the right will eventually win this fight. Because we DO believe in competition. We do believe in "number one". We do believe we are, and should be, the leader of the world. We do believe in VICTORY!

So let's make 2010 a Teachable Moment by voting out as many progressive/liberal ideologues as possible. Let's make 2012 a second Teachable Moment. And let's keep teaching that lesson election after election after election until we restore America to her former greatness!

We have started a noble movement to save America. Don't delude yourself into believing the course ahead will be easy, or that it will be quick. Start teaching your children, and their children, about what you are doing and why you are doing it. We will "write" our own history by doing so. And that history will be passed to our great grandchildren and their grandchildren, and America will endure and even flourish. We are all that stands between that vision and Obama's vision. There is no option but to win.

New Medical Symbol

The medical industry has created this new symbol to clearly illustrate what Health Care Reform, as currently being proposed, will mean to each and every one of us. Wake Up America!

Cause And Effect

Remember physics and the rule of cause and effect? Well we're living that Axiom today. Everything our esteemed leader does, has a consequence. And I contend that the more he bends over backwards, the further third world nations will expect him to bend, the less strong we will be perceived and the less safe we will become.

Let me give you two examples. First, Obama has bent over backwards appeasing the Palestinians at the expense of our ally, Israel. And yet yesterday the Palestinians stated their hopes for the Obama Administration have "evaporated". They claim that the White House has caved to the pressure exerted by the pro-Israeli factions. They stated Obama "could not withstand the pressure of the Zionist lobby, which led to a retreat from his previous position on halting settlement construction and redefining and agenda for the negotiations and peace." And Ahmajinedad calls Obama naive!

Secondly, yesterday the Nobel Panel defended their choice of Obama for the Nobel Peace Prize, stating that they selected Obama for what he has accomplished. Have you ever heard them defend any other choice? So why do they feel the need to defend this one? Perhaps because it was a poor choice to begin with! Four of the five panelists spoke out, stating "He got the prize for what he has done" citing Obama's efforts to heal the divide between the West and the Muslim world (efforts do not equal accomplishment, but maybe the Nobel Panel doesn't know that)and to scale down the Bush-era proposal for an anti-missile shield in Europe. Now that action leads many to believe that less peace in the region, not more, is imminent. Committee Chairman Jagland of the Panel stated "all these things (all these things? Only two were mentioned!)have contributed to - I wouldn't say a safer world (DUH!!) - but a world with less tension."

Cool! Effort + less tension = Nobel Peace Prize!

I wonder if that formula has ever been employed for the basis of an international award before? Doesn't seem the requirements are so stringent to me. But I digress. Back to Cause and Effect.

The bottom line is that Obama's actions have consequences. He wants a safer world, but at the expense of a less safe America, a less safe Europe and a less safe Isreal. But with a militarily empowered Iran and North Korea. Call me daft, but I don't quite see how the world is less safe. Do you?

And to date his actions have led me to believe that America, which he took an oath to defend and protect to the best of his ability, is now a less safe place. So either he could care less about his Oath of Office (they're just words - remember him saying that?) or his ability is pretty poor. I suspect it's the former, not the latter.

WWOFD?

Four things you can't recover:

The stone........after the throw. The word........after it's said.

The occasion........after it's missed. The time.........after it's gone.

Don't sit on the sidelines folks, get involved!

Here we sit. The Senate has just voted 14-9 to pass the Baucus Health Care Bill and send it along to the next step of the process. Many of us have written - time and time and time again - to our Congressmen telling them exactly what we want, and what we don't want, from our government. From health care to taxes to the size of government, to spending, to the debt, to the deficit our communications to our representatives has been abundant. We have voluntarily attended Tea Parties, town hall meetings, and a march on the Mall in Washington. We have signed petitions, we have blogged, we have sent emails to our contacts. We have created signs and placed bumper stickers for the first time. And yet, the "power" in Washington has defied our wishes. They slowed their pace, but they have not altered their course. How do we fight a government that will not listen?

So what will it take? We may not have until 2010, and even if we do, will we be able to vote enough of these faux-constitutionalists out of office? How much damage can the country endure over the next 14 months? The next 38 months? Or, God forbid the next 86 months?

I know at least one of my Senators is gung-ho for the government option in the health care bill - despite repeated communications from me. He isn't up for reelection for 5 more years. He has no incentive at this point to abide the wishes of his constituency. So how do we fight his disdain for us? How do we fight the hidden taxes coming our way through the programs Washington is rolling out, and wants to roll out in the months and years to come? What would our Founders do?

How can so many Americans embrace the Obama vision for America? Transforming America will transform the world as well. Are you prepared for what that will mean? Can you even imagine what that will mean? Are you prepared to accept an America that no longer leads the world? And can you accept a President who is intent on bringing about that change? Yep Hope and Change - the Obama mantra. WWOFD?

Economy on The Mend? Yeah Right!

The claim is that the worst recession since the Great Depression has ended. A survey of 44 professional forecasters released by the National Association for Business Economics (NABE), found that 80 percent of the respondents believed the economy was growing again after four straight quarters of declines. Wow, great news! I'm glad this was reported in the news, otherwise, I wouldn't have known. I gotta tell you, I look around and I don't see much happening that supports that claim.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, since the start of the recession in December 2007, the number of unemployed persons has increased by 7.6 million to 15.1 million, and the unemployment rate has doubled to 9.8 percent.

This number doesn't include all those people no longer looking for work. The actual number of people who aren't working is closer to 1 in 5 - 20%! And unemployment data continues to trend up.

So I say keep your good news to yourself until you know what you're talking about. This recession may be over to the politicians, but it's still strong out here for the working folks - unless, I guess, you live in Detroit and were able to get some of the stimulus money from Uncle Barack!

Wake Up America!

True Leadership

If you want a demonstration of true leadership, look no further than our once strong ally, Israel, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. You may recall the blisteringly passionate speech he gave at the U.N. a couple weeks ago, when he forcefully denounced anyone who failed to acknowledge the Holocaust. But yesterday he did something else. He spoke in response to a new United Nations report about his country's response last year to years of rocket fire into Israel from the Gaza Strip. That report denounced Israel's actions and accused Israel of intentionally harming civilians. Following years of frustration, Israel's military response was a massive attack that did include civilian casualties. However, Netanyahu stated in his speech to the Israeli Parliament that no Israeli official, government leader, or soldier would face trial for war crimes - period.

Here's my editorial on the subject. Every leader of every country knows and understands that terrorist tactics include the firing of missiles, RPG's, rocket fire, rifle fire, etc conducted from the "safety" of civilian populated areas of the various countries perpetrating the violence. Those using civilian centers to launch attacks know and understand the reluctance of world leaders to mount a counter-offensive against them precisely because they do use civilian populations as "shields".

Now, I believe, that by now, all civilians should know and understand what they are being used for and that they have two choices. The first is to accept their role as "shields", thus enabling the terrorist activity in their country. Or, secondly, they can turn those insurgents in, and weed terrorist activity out of their neighborhoods - thus insuring a more peaceful existence for themselves and their children, and beginning the cycle of cleansing that will change their country for the better once and for all. But if they choose the first alternative, they are complicit in the terrorist action, and thus should be categorized as an enemy combatant - not a civilian. As such, they then become subject to attack just as those carrying a weapon are. I believe Netanyahu understood this. But even if he didn't he still acted to protect the interest of his country. And I applaud him.

Thank you for your leadership Mr. Netanyahu, and your willingness to stand on principle and integrity!

Do We Play Taps Now

It may be premature, but we haven't heard a lot from Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness in a long, long time. We don't really know if they are still alive, but we fear they have passed. After all, look at the facts.

LIFE - Since Roe vs. Wade we are no longer entitled to Life. If someone determines we will live, we will. Otherwise, it's off to see our God before we even open our eyes.

Liberty - we don't really have liberty any longer. We are afraid to say what's on our minds because we might "offend" someone or some group. For instance, Merry Christmas we a staple heard everywhere in December when I was growing up. Not any longer, now it's "Happy Holidays". Please! Give me a break. And this is just a small example of the liberty losses we endure. Government mandates our safety, regulates our industry, and now even intends to determine how much compensation an executive, in a privately owned company, can get paid. They enslave us with hidden taxes and "fees" - haha, that one's funny, like we don't know it's really a tax! And they encumber our liberty with excessive spending and intolerable debt.

Pursuit of Happiness - Our government has made the determination that they will provide our happiness through "entitlement programs". The problem with that ideology is that by definition of their social justice programs they can only make less than 1/2 the country happy because the rest of us are paying the way for that happiness.

So I ask you, is Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness dead? Or are they just in exile? Let's hope the latter.

Wake Up America!
