It’s come to this. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan has decided to make a speech on 8-28…at a counter-rally to Glenn’s Restoring Honor event on August 28th. Of course, when The Daily Caller asked them about why yet another high level Obama official is spending their time obsessing over Glenn rather than dealing with the actual problems we have in America-they were promptly hung up on.
This 14-year-old-girl-who-just-got-in-a-fight-about-the-Twilight-series response to a reporter was preceded by a boilerplate non-answer :
“Newt Gingrich, Reverend Sharpton and Secretary Duncan enjoyed visiting some of the highest performing low income schools in the nation and we look forward to visiting Dunbar High School with the Reverend later this month,” Justin Hamilton, a spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Education, said in an e-mail to TheDC, answering a question that wasn’t asked.
Then, The Daily Caller gave the rest of the world of journalism a lesson in their craft-by actually following up:
Hamilton hung up the phone on TheDC when contacted for further comment, refusing to answer actual questions, including whether Duncan believes the Tea Party is racist or if he believes Beck is trying to “hijack” the American dream, or comment any further on Duncan’s planned participation in the rally.
Considering Glenn is blamed for the actions of every Tea Party member in America that he hasn’t met, it would have been nice if the Obama administration could enlighten us on why they would choose to participate in a rally that believes that the honoring of our troops and the celebration of faith is an attempt to “hijack” MLK’s dream.
Instead, we just get awfully crafted denials from the spokesperson of the Al Sharpton lead counter-rally:
Noerdlinger said people should not perceive Sharpton’s event as a “counter-rally” to Beck’s event, and she accused several media outlets of trying to frame the event like that.
And how could we POSSIBLY get the idea that it was a counter-rally? Hmmm…maybe from THEIR OWN STATEMENT released earlier this week?
“While across town at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial the conservative tea party members and TV host Glenn Beck will attempt to hijack the dream…”
Or perhaps, the words of Al Sharpton himself:
“On the anniversary of the March on Washington, Glenn Beck is going to talk about the dream of Martin Luther King and how he was with them - not us,” Sharpton said in the blackvoicenews.com article. “So, we’ve been traveling all over this country because there is no way in the world that I am going to allow him to have more people there than us. I hope every Black person in the country will help us to challenge this.”
How could anyone get the idea it is a counter-rally???
The Sharpton group even tried to cover its tracks by trying to make it seem like their event was planned long before any thought of Glenn Beck ever popped into their minds…

Ohhh—in April???? You mean 5 months after Glenn’s rally was announced? That’s an air tight case. Good work.
Has there been stated opposition to the Restoring Honor rally? Sure. We now know that the Obama administration, Al Sharpton, and the New Black Panther Party stand unified in opposition. But, criticizing the event before it happens is ill-advised. This isn’t about politics. It’s about honoring heroes, our founders, and our faith.
On the bright side–next time someone says the Obama administration isn’t willing to make the tough decisions-remind them that they were willing to stand up in front of the nation and proudly say they were firmly against Restoring Honor. Congratulations!

Well, This Should Be An Interesting Weekend. I Wonder If King Samir Shabazz Will Be Attending...
Restoring Honor Rally will be looked back on as pivotal piece of our History. Who could possibly be against restoring honor?? Those who oppose might well pivot the most when they discover what they are afraid of for whatever reason is that Truth will set them free. The message will be delivered...Beck with his and Rev. Sharpton with his. If people open their ears, minds and hearts...they will HEAR the Truth without racism, name calling or hate from one guy, we all know how the other speech will go.
