I just returned from attending the Restoring Honor rally on the National Mall - and I'll tell you, people were everywhere! Specifically they congregated around the reflecting pool, a couple of side fields, around the WWII Memorial, in front of the Washington Memorial, and were also scattered around the surrounding streets and general areas. At 7:45am, as we approached the Mall we were treated to a vision that I can't compare to anything I've ever seen. From every street intersecting with the Mall, from underground (the metro), and on the Mall itself, crowds of people were streaming towards the Lincoln Memorial. It was an amazing experience. Despite the size of the crowd - estimated to be between 300,000 and 500,000 (I've heard estimates from 82,000 to 700,000) - there was nothing but harmony and good will exhibited by all that we came into contact with. It was an extremely orderly and peaceful gathering. At about a minute prior to the event commencing, music was already playing. As we looked at the reflecting pool, the WWII Memorial was to our right, and the Lincoln memorial was to our left. Suddenly, cresting the WWII Memorial in formation was a gaggle of Canadian geese. They flew nearly the length of the reflecting pool before veering off to the right of the Lincoln Memorial. That was a fitting tribute provided by God - a natural fly-over. It was quite inspiring and magical.
The event began and Glenn, being Glenn, poured his heart into his message. That message for me was two-fold. First and foremost, as we work to reclaim, and then restore, our Republic, we must do so with God by our sides. But not only do we need to stand side by side with Him, we also need to strive to act as God would want us to act. We must engage this evil we face with the light of truth - always. That is the only way we can truly be honorable. We must embrace God, not only in word, but in deed. We must have a personal relationship with Him. We must know that He exists, not just have faith that he exists. For how else will we be able to consistently demonstrate honorable behavior otherwise? The times ahead are shaping up to be very hard indeed; so don't you think having God to fall back on would be (and is) a good thing?
I am one of the lucky ones. I know God exists because 7 or 8 years ago I was going through some trying times, and I witnessed miracles. I won't go into the specifics, but God has already done more for me than I could ever repay. For anyone who has not witnessed a miracle, that is probably pretty hard to believe. But it is true.
Secondly, Glenn picked the location of the event - the steps of the Lincoln Memorial - very carefully in my opinion. As we poured into the area, we were surrounded by the Memorials created for the giants of our Nation. Not only Lincoln, and Washington, and Jefferson, but also all those brave men and women who fought in Viet Nam, Korea, and the theatres of WWII. As Glenn explained it, all these giants were just people, no different than you or I. They, however, did something that we have not yet done. They did the hard thing that had to be done when it was necessary. That is our calling now. It is our time to do what needs to be done. And perhaps one of us - some blogger, or a columnist, or a tea party activist, or a conservative politician, or one of our children or grandchildren, or maybe just the guy or girl next door, will be the next giant - or maybe all of us will be.
We are on the edge - at the very beginning - of a new transformation in America. We have seen it building over the past 15 months (maybe longer for some of us). And now thousands of clergy have committed to spread the truth about our unalienable rights, and take up the cause against manifest destiny. The new Black Robe Brigade will help to spread the truth about God's role in the founding of our nation. And the role He will play in it's reclamation and restoration as well. If you haven't done so yet, jump on board!!
If God Is On Our Side, Who Would Dare To Stand Against Us?
