"When the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." - Benjamin Franklin;
"And when politicians find that honor and character matter less than buying votes and a constituency, that too will herald the end of the Constitution. When that happens we must work tirelessly to change their minds, or their occupation!" - Hoping The Blind Will See

Character Matters

While this blog is mostly about politics, and political satire, there are times when something seemingly completely unrelated comes to my attention. This is such a time. Below you will hear the story of NeiNie in her own words. If you don't know her, you will be amazed and stunned by the sheer magnitude of her character and mental toughness, and hopefully inspired by her resolve to embrace her faith. I first heard about her from my sister several months ago. I follow her blog. Her story is the epitome of the stories of people from the  "American Heartland". The trials and challenges she faces daily, in relation to scope (if not experience), must be similar to those our founders faced. As you watch this, and realize the hard choices she has made, and as you try to comprehend her reliance on her faith, remember that our founders had similarly hard choices and also relied on their faith.

Can you find anyone in Congress who could overcome a challenge of this magnitude, while at the same time maintaining their character, their faith, and their honor? Perhaps John McCain (though I don't agree with his political ideology). Can you find anyone in Congress who has not succumbed to the corruption there? Nope! Yet our founders were aware of that same corruptibility and withstood it. So why can't modern day politicains? Perhaps because modern day politicains are just that - politicians. Our founders were not, they were ordinary men with normal aspirations, and a common goal. To live free and infringe upon nobody's liberty. Maybe today's Congressmen and women have less honor and character today because they lived such priviledged lives. Who knows.

So as you watch this video remember character matters. And when you go to the polls in November, remember, character matters. And remember also that politicians - career politicians - are inherently corrupt. And make the choices that need to be made.

  1. nice that you have included the courage of NieNie here, because she is a great example of how, when you have trust in God you can prevail through the most difficult of circumstances. We must RELY on the power of God, we must keep Him in our hearts as we press onward against the politics of today! The bible speaks of a perpetual slide downwards in 1Kings where the Kings (president) brought idolotry into religion ( a lack of God exists here) we worship instead a government that brings corruption into politics, just as the Kings did. The Kings adopted all the oppressive ways that had sparked the original rebellions: HARSH TAXATION, REPRESSION OF THOSE WHO SOUGHT TO SPEAK OUT; ABUSE OF POWER! Does that sound familiar to any of you? WAKE UP AMERICA it is almost too late. If we keep GOD from our country we will not have the country we once knew! ~ I pray that God bless America and strengthen the hearts of her people to press on!

  2. Well stated. It's been a week since I last was on, so this is the first opportunty I've had to review the comments. But it is clear to me that Americans are still engaged in this epic struggle for America. The primary results and the political elections since last November are evidence of it. I was getting a little concerned that people were starting to get complacent - but after last night I see I don't have to worry about that for now... NieNie should be, or could be, a great inspiration for anyone facing challenges in life. Accept God as our Founders did, and as many people have done before us, and He will lead the way. It might not be easy, but at least it will be comforting to know that you are living on the side of Truth! And ask yourself, why have our progressive politicians and Supreme Court Judges struggled so hard and so long to obliterate Him form our society? Why have we allowed it? Will we ever throw those decisions out? Not so long as we have the likes of kagan being nominated for high positions on the Court. Call your Senators and demand they vote against approval of this nomination!
