"When the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." - Benjamin Franklin;
"And when politicians find that honor and character matter less than buying votes and a constituency, that too will herald the end of the Constitution. When that happens we must work tirelessly to change their minds, or their occupation!" - Hoping The Blind Will See

What About The Poor?

How much have you heard over the past 15-20 years about "corporate greed", the rising number of homeless persons, the poverty level, and "redistribution of wealth"? Certainly more recently, but it has been a mantra of the progressive left for decades. So here are some facts.

According to government records, in 1959 almost 39 1/2 million Americans were below the poverty level (22.4% of the total population). In 14 years, by 1973, that number decreased to below 23 million (11.1% of the total population) as the economy, and life in capatalistic America continued to improve.

Then a funny thing happened. The poverty level began to rise. Despite (or perhaps because of) the attempts by liberals to "help the poor" with social programs like welfare, affirmative action, WIC, forced minimum wage, the creation of the EEOC, etc. By 2006 nearly 36 1/2 million Americans were classified below the poverty level. The level has been rising steadily since 1973, peaking at over 39 million Americans in 1993 (under Bill Clinton and super-majority democratic status in Congress) - right where we were in 1959. How is it possible that all these programs designed to help the poor and eliminate poverty have resulted in just the opposite? Well, let's see. During this entire period, the make-up of Congress (both the Senate and the House), that controls the creation, passage and funding of all bills, was predominately DEMOCRAT! There have been 26 Congresses between 1959 and 2006. The Democrats have controlled all but 6! And there were 18 of the 20 they controlled where the balance of power resulted in a super majority (between 298 - 363 members). Never have the Republicans controlled more than 286 seats! So does this tell you anything?

In terms of your prosperity, your freedoms, your liberty, our soveriegnty, our very lives, Democrats/Liberals/Progressives are NOT our friends! The facts are clear. These people are clueless when it comes to making our lives better. So it's also pretty clear that we want less government, not more. Oh, and by the way, these people want to create a new social healthcare system? Laughable!

Wake Up America!

  1. How entrepreneurs come about is coming to Amazon.com soon. It is a book called SAVE PEBBLE DROPPERS & PROSPERITY, also cited in claysamerica.com. The book provides the reasons for America’s success in a world unable to achieve freedom, prosperity and success, other than dictatorship and special interest elite bennies. It talks about the psychological foundation of entrepreneurship and prosperity. The basic, simple elements of prosperity are listed in claysamerica.com and are great Tea Party and Ayn Rand justifications for those new to politics. There are enough people learning why and how to apply the brakes to Obama’s headlong rush to European Marxism, mercantilism and bigger government. The tradition of individualism and freedom is still too strong for the kind of centralizing power-grab we are experiencing today. Claysamerica.com

  2. You said it yourself, on your blog's header--
    "When the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." - Benjamin Franklin

    Government = Power and Control
    We need government, but we must keep them in check. The "nanny state" and entitlement acts breed reliance on the state under the disguise of altruism.
    That is the biggest problem we have. Government is convincing (educating) Americans that increasing gov. power is altruistic so that they can "help the needy." When in fact, all it does is create dependence and increase the power of the people in Government. Our founding fathers understood this. They understood that it is natural for persons to seek power and that's why we have the constitution-- to protect the people from the government.
